The story of the Taj Mahal is closely connected to Shah Jahan and his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. They were married in 1612 and shared a deep and meaningful bond. Mumtaz was not just his wife—she also supported him in important decisions and even traveled with him during wars. In 1631, Mumtaz Mahal died while giving birth to their 14th child. This tragic loss deeply affected Shah Jahan and he was very broken from inside. It is believed that he decided to build a grand monument so that their love can be remembered forever.

The Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture, where Persian, Islamic, Turkish, and Indian styles is combined together. It was inspired by monuments like Humayun’s Tomb, but its design is more refined and balanced. The structure was designed by Ustad Ahmad Lahori along with a team of skilled architects.
